As Maldives President Muhammad Muizzu visits India, the main opposition on Tuesday took a swipe at his naive and inexperienced administration and said it has now realised that diplomacy cannot be conducted through lies and deceit.
Former president Mohamed Nasheed echoed the sentiment, terming India and Maldives as natural partners while referring to Muizzu's meetings with the Indian leadership in New Delhi.
Muizzu is on his first state visit to India from October 6 to 10.
Pro-China Muizzu had assumed office last November riding on the back of an aggressive 'India Out' campaign. Within hours of taking oath, he had asked India to repatriate its military personnel from the three platforms in the archipelagic nation.

Industry body Broadband India Forum on Tuesday opposed Reliance Jio's demand for revising the consultation paper on Satcom spectrum rules.
Reliance Jio has urged telecom regulator Trai to come up with a revised paper on spectrum allocation for satellite communication, alleging that it ignores the key points of ensuring a level-playing field between satellite and terrestrial services.
Without naming Reliance Jio, Broadband India Forum (BIF) said the argument for a 'level playing field' between satellite-based and terrestrial communication services is fundamentally flawed, demonstrating a profound misunderstanding of the technologies and the law.

Messaging app Telegram has taken decisive action against bots that were reported for sharing sensitive data related to Star Health and Allied Insurance Company, and is actively keeping an eye on their re-emergence, a company statement said.
"The bots reported to Telegram for sharing Star Health data were immediately removed and moderators are monitoring to prevent them from being recreated. The sharing of private information on Telegram is expressly forbidden and such content is deleted whenever it is found," the statement said.
Last month, Star Health had sent a legal notice to Telegram, accusing it of hosting chatbots that shared the leaked data, the statement said, adding that Telegram has consistently maintained its stance on data privacy and cooperation with the investigation.

Two Agniveers were killed when a shell from an Indian field gun exploded during firing practice at the Artillery Centre in Maharashtra's Nashik district, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred at the Artillery Centre in the Nashik Road area on Thursday afternoon, an official said.
Agniveers Gohil Vishwaraj Singh (20) and Saifat Shit (21) were killed in the blast, he said.
A team of Agniveers was firing an Indian field gun when one of the shells exploded. The duo sustained injuries and were taken to MH Hospital, Deolali, where they were pronounced dead, the official said.
Based on a complaint by Havildar Ajit Kumar, a case of accidental death has been registered with the Deolali Camp police, and further investigations are on, he said.
