The Tripura government on Saturday said that 87 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) valued at Rs 3,683 crore were signed in the business conclave that concluded on February 8.
Addressing the 'Destination Tripura: Business Conclave-2025' here, Chief Minister Manik Saha urged investors to set up industries in the northeastern state.
"Though Tripura is the third smallest state in the country, it has enormous resources to offer for setting up industries. Natural gas, tea, rubber, bamboo and agar are the resources which could be used for commercial purposes," Saha said.
Asserting that the northeastern state has agar plantations covering over 2000 hectares in non-forest area, the chief minister said the state also produces over 1 lakh MT of raw rubber annually.
Saha also informed the industrial houses of the state's infrastructure for business, especially in Sabroom.

Speciality chemicals company Chemplast Sanmar Ltd has reported a net loss of Rs 49 crore for the October-December 2024 quarter significantly reducing from a net loss of Rs 89 crore registered in the year ago period.
The city-based company, part of the SHL Chemicals Group which is a constituent of diversified The Sanmar Group, had registered a net loss of Rs 56 crore for the April-December 2024 period, as compared to Rs 127 crore recorded in the year ago period.
In a statement on Saturday, the company said the business performance improved due to better prices and margins on Paste PVC (polyvinyl chloride), improved performance of Custom Manufacturing Chemicals division (CMCD) and also due to increased volumes of Paste PVC from the new manufacturing facility in Cuddalore.

Ahmedabad-based education services provider Shanti Educational Initiatives Ltd (SEIL) has reported a 10-fold jump in net profit for the October-December quarter on the back of a surge in total income.
The BSE-listed company reported more than five-fold jump in total income to Rs 20.94 crore for the third quarter of 2024-25 compared to Rs 4 crore in the year-ago period driven by all-round growth across its entities, the company said in a statement.
The company's profit after tax (PAT) was Rs 1.95 crore in the December quarter of 2024-25 as against Rs 16.89 lakh in Q3FY24.
For the nine-month period, total income rose more than two-fold to Rs 43.24 crore against Rs 18.80 crore in 9MFY24. Net profit stood at Rs 7.5 crore in April-December FY25 compared to Rs 4.73 crore reported in 9MFY24, the statement said.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday termed  as "anti-constitutional" the draft UGC regulations for selection of vice chancellors in Central and state universities.
Demanding a rollback of the criteria of the search-and-selection committee of vice chancellors of state-aided universities, Moitra said during Zero Hour that there is no state-government representative in the committee even though states pay completely for the state-run universities.
The draft UGC regulation, 2025, which seeks to replace the UGC regulation 2018, is "over-centralised, anti-constitutional and anti-federal", Moitra said.
According to the draft regulations, industry experts, as well as senior professionals from public administration, public policy and public sector undertakings, might soon be eligible for appointment as vice chancellors. The draft norms have also given power to chancellors or visitors to constitute the three-member search-cum-selection committee to appoint vice chancellors.
