The government has exempted export of 'Bangalore Rose' onion from duty, subject to certain conditions.
The Finance Ministry issued a notification granting exemption from export duty on Bangalore Rose onion provided that the exporter furnishes a certificate from the state horticulture commissioner, certifying the item and quantity of Bangalore Rose onion to be exported.
In August, the government imposed a 40 per cent duty on export of all varieties of onions to increase domestic availability and check price rise in the local market.

The 'rail roko' stir of Punjab farmers demanding compensation for crops damaged in the recent floods, a legal guarantee on MSP and a sweeping debt waiver entered its third day on Saturday.
The agitation has hit the movement of trains, with many being cancelled, short-terminated or diverted, railway officials said.
The farmers have been blockading railway tracks at several places in Faridkot, Samrala, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Patiala, Ferozepur, Bathinda and Amritsar since Thursday as part of their three-day agitation.
The protest has left hundreds of rail passengers stranded in Punjab and Haryana.
A railway passenger at Ludhiana station said he arrived from Jalandhar City by road to take a train to Gorakhpur but there is no information on when it will arrive.
Another passenger at the station said the agitation forced the cancellation of a train from Amritsar in which 12 of his family members were supposed to travel to Bihar.

The Bengaluru Police have busted a Rs 854 crore cyber fraud scam and arrested six people who allegedly cheated thousands of victims across India on the pretext of an investment scheme, officials said on Saturday.
Out of the total cheated amount, Rs five crore had been frozen, they said.
The accused gang lured the victims through Whatsapp and Telegram. Initially, they were asked to invest smaller amounts ranging from Rs 1,000 to 10,000 on the pretext that they would earn Rs 1,000 to 5,000 per day as a profit, a senior police officer said.
Thousands of victims invested money ranging from Rs one lakh to 10 lakh or more, he said.
The money invested by the victims was dumped into different bank accounts through online payments. However, after completing the investment process, when the victim tried to withdraw the amount, they never got any refund, he added.

The TMC has arranged special buses to ferry nearly five thousand MGNREGA job cardholders to Delhi for their scheduled protest programme next week against the alleged withholding of funds by the Centre, a party leader said on Saturday.
Senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee announced on Friday that his party would make alternative arrangements for transporting its supporters to Delhi for the October 3 protest programme, accusing the BJP of creating roadblocks after the request for a special train was denied.
"As we were denied a special train, we have made alternate arrangements for special buses to transport the MGNREGA workers to Delhi. Since the buses will be travelling through BJP-ruled states, we are also arranging for pilot cars to ensure the safety and security of the MGNREGA job cardholders," a senior TMC leader stated.
According to TMC sources, every bus will also have a TMC leader and activists to take care of the 100-day job cardholders.

The Assam government has decided to hike the daily minimum wage of tea garden workers by Rs 18, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
During a cabinet meeting chaired by Sarma, the decision was taken to increase the wages in both Brahmaputra and Barak valleys with effect from October 1.
"The cabinet decided to increase the minimum daily wages of tea garden workers. In Brahmaputra valley, the daily wage has been increased to Rs 250 from Rs 232 with effect from October 1. In Barak valley, the workers will get Rs 228 instead of Rs 210 from now," he said.
Briefing the press after the meeting on Monday, Sarma said the government has given instructions to the garden managements to give a 20-per cent bonus for the ensuing Durga Puja.
"There will be a 3-per cent reservation in government jobs for tea garden workers and adivasi people with immediate effect. This will be for only the non-creamy layer," he said.

The Delhi government is likely to pay the last instalment of its share in the upcoming Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor soon with the transport department moving a proposal in the matter, officials said on Monday.
The amount for the last instalment is Rs 415 crore and will total around Rs 485 crore after taxes, said a senior government official.
Officials said that the transport department had last week sent a file to the finance department for payment of Rs 415 crore as the last instalment of the Delhi government's total contribution of Rs 1,180 crore in the RAPIDX corridor.
The 82.15 km long Delhi-Meerut corridor connecting Sarai Kale Khan in the city to Meerut's Modipuram is estimated to cost Rs 31,632 crore. The corridor, with 24 stations, will cover the distance in an hour.
