Sebi on Friday dismissed regulatory violation charges against the NSE and its seven former employees, including Chitra Ramkrishna and Ravi Narain, in the matter of the co-location facility, citing the absence of sufficient evidence.
"Due to the absence of sufficient material/evidence/objective facts on record in this case, the test of preponderance of probability' fails to produce enough justification for the establishment of collusion/connivance between OPG and its directors with Noticees (NSE and its seven employees)," Seb said in its 83-page order.
Apart from NSE, Ramkrishna and Narain, Sebi has dropped charges against Anand Subramanian, Ravindra Apte, Umesh Jain, Mahesh Soparkar and Deviprasad Singh.
The case relates to the alleged preferential access given to certain broking firms in the form of 'dark fibre' at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to connect across the colocation facilities before other members.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the government will procure soyabean at a minimum support price in Madhya Pradesh amid a fall in the rates below the MSP level.
MSP of soyabean (yellow) is fixed at Rs 4,892 per quintal for 2024-25. The procurement will be carried out under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) implemented by the agriculture ministry.
"MP farmers are worried about soyabean prices ruling below MSP. We received a proposal from the MP government on procurement yesterday night. We have approved it," Chouhan told reporters.
Soyabean will be purchased at an MSP in Madhya Pradesh also, the minister said, asserting that the farming community is a priority for the government and he believes serving farmers is like worshipping God.
Earlier, the Centre had given permission for procurement of soyabean at MSP rate in Maharasthra and Karnataka, he added.

The Supreme Court granted the AAP national convenor bail on Friday in a corruption case lodged by the CBI in connection with the excise policy 'scam'. A day after the Kerala High Court quashed the case registered against three Congress leaders in connection with the Assembly ruckus incident, the opposition party on Saturday said the verdict was a setback to the government's alleged attempt to weaken the case.
Welcoming the verdict, the Congress said if a trial was held in the 2015 case, CPI (M) leaders including General Education Minister V Sivankutty would be punished, he said.
In a statement, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly V D Satheesan alleged the Left government was trying to prolong the trial by making false cases to avoid this.
