NASA astronaut Kate Rubins has returned to Earth Saturday after a successful 115-day mission aboard the International Space Station.

NASA astronaut Kate Rubins has returned to Earth Saturday after a successful 115-day mission aboard the International Space Station.

And the first thing Rubins did after more than three months in space was to call her family. The astronaut was caught on camera smiling as she chatted on the cellphone as she was carried into a medical tent out of the spacecraft.

Rubins, who has a degree in molecular biology and became the first person to sequence DNA in space, contributed to several new studies aboard the space station.
