What is Kendriya Vidyalaya

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, previously named as 'Central Schools', is a system of educational centres under the central government. It aims to cater to the needs and interest of students while pursuing excellence in the field of education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), which has its headquarters in New Delhi, oversees the functioning of all schools chained under it. As of May 2019, a total of 1,204 schools were named Kendriya Vidyalayas which makes it one of the longest school chains in the world — with three units abroad. The three Kendriya Vidyalayas outside India are in Kathmandu, Teheran and Moscow.

All KV schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). One of the objectives of KVs is to educate the children of the Indian Defence Services personnel often posted at remote locations. Kendriya Vidyalayas are for central govt employees' children only (mainly Indian Defence/Armed Forces wards)

Why Kendriya Vidyalaya?

The Kendriya Vidyalaya is one the top institutes in India, serving not only quality education to students but also the assurance that students of government employees do not face education disadvantages when their parents are transferred from one location to another.
