India is in negotiations with at least 8-9 more groups of countries and individual nations that together account for another USD 15 trillion of GDP, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday.
He added that the country's free trade agreements would eventually cover about 75 per cent of global trade and help position India as a trusted partner in global value chains.
India has a large domestic market and it opens its doors to the world with nine free trade agreements signed in the last four years, he said here while addressing business representatives from India and Japan.
These nine agreements cover economies with a combined GDP of USD 60 trillion and 38 developed countries.
The earlier trade pacts  with countries, including Japan and Korea , and the Asean region have opened another USD 10 trillion of GDP.

The Congress on Wednesday said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' reported letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity's bias in favour of private power companies was full of "hypocrisy" and that he should also question decisions that have benefited the Adani group.
Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the Maharashtra chief minister has apparently protested to the prime minister that the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) is heavily biased in favour of private power companies.
"The major recipient of APTEL's favours in Maharashtra in 2025 and 2026 has been the Modani conglomerate. At least 4 cases have been decided in its favour," Ramesh said on X, referring to the Adani group.

The US economy grew at a sluggish 1.5 per cent pace from April through June. But consumer spending stayed strong.
The Commerce Department reported Wednesday that growth in gross domestic product - the nation's output of a goods and services - decelerated from a 2.1 per cent pace from January through March. The second-quarter growth number was unchanged from the department's first estimate.
Still, consumer spending - which accounts for about 70 per cent of US economic activity - increased at a healthy 3.4 per cent annual clip, up from 0.5 per cent in the January-March period.
The reason for the lackluster growth number was imports. They are subtracted from growth because GDP is only supposed to count domestic US production. Imports rose at a 12.5 per cent annual pace from April through June, partly due to a surge in shipments of computer chips and other products that support artificial intelligence investment, and sliced 1.64 percentage points off second-quarter growth.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued notices to 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs and sought their replies within seven days on petitions filed by TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee seeking their disqualification under the anti-defection law, sources said.
The notices, dated August 25, forwarded a copy of Banerjee's petition dated June 18 filed against the MPs, who joined the NCPI, under Rule 6 of the Members of Lok Sabha (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 1985.
The Secretariat has asked the MPs to furnish their comments on the petition within seven days of receipt of the notice, the sources said.
The development comes a day after the Supreme Court agreed to hear Banerjee's plea seeking an expeditious decision on the disqualification petitions.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana agreed to hear Banerjee's plea questioning the alleged delay in deciding the disqualification proceedings.
