Who is Prahlad Singh Sawhney

Prahlad Singh Sawhney is an Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader from Delhi, who previously represented the Chandni Chowk constituency for the Congress Party from 1998 to 2015. In the 2015 Delhi elections, Sawhney had lost to AAP’s Alka Lamba, who is now with the Congress. When Sawhney joined AAP in October 2019, he said he was “impressed with the work of Arvind Kejriwal and what the CM had achieved in five years”.

Sawhney began his political career in 1977, contesting municipal corporation elections, which he lost by 100 votes. He again contested for in 1983 and won. He then contested Assembly elections and went on to represent the Chandni Chowk constituency. His biggest win came in 2003, when he defeated BJP’s Dharamvir Sharma by a margin of 10,866 votes.

In the 2020 Delhi elections, he will again be contesting from Chandni Chowk, this time on an AAP ticket.
