Want to run away from the sweltering heat? Good idea. Just one thing: don’t leave without these amazing travel bags. They’ll be your constant companions and, even if you stuff them with your belongings, won’t complain. We suggest some sleek and stylish, classy and bold designs that you won’t mind carrying around with you.

Buy gone era

Samsonite Black Label and Viktor & Rolf joined forces to create a new collection that packs a glamorous punch in the world of travel accessories. This new concept is a blend of the design aesthetics of Viktor & Rolf and the technical and innovative skills of Samsonite Black Label. Inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, pieces under this brand come with a distinct modern twist. From classic black to a playful vintage aeroplane print, there’s a lot of fun and energy infused in this new luggage collection. Price: Rs 56,000

In the pink of style

Carrying the right travel bag with you on a holiday is a challenge. Thankfully, Tod’s two new bags — Pashmy and Yacht — make the task simpler. The Spring-Summer 2009 Pashmy collection includes new silhouettes in neoprene with classic styles and materials: Nylon, with trims of patent leather, calfskin, crocodile and snake. Neoprene colours include fluorescent pinks, corals and whites, all with contrasting coloured Tod's tags. Tod’s Yacht bags come with a waterproof PVC case. Profiled with soft leather, the waterproof case ensures that your seaside holiday will be easier. Tod’s Yacht bag is priced at Rs 69,000.

Calf and carry

Bvlgari’s travelling bags are designed for those on the move. The brand uses fine calf leather for its products, and its famous Messenger bag in dark brown calf leather features a nylon signature shoulder strap and internal and outside pockets. Price: Rs 1.7 lakh. Also featured in the Mobility range, Bvlgari’s 24-hour bag in dark brown calf leather has two large front pockets and a detachable cotton signature strap, as well as palladium finishing. Price: Rs 78,000.

Light weight

Montblanc’s new luggage range stresses on diet. Lightweight is the motto of the new Nightflight leather collection. So, imagine a silk and cotton blend on a travel bag that’s as soft as velvet to the touch, but as tough as nylon, thanks to innovative fibre technology. Combined with black leather, the result is casual and sophisticated. Subtle details like the duffle-coat buttons featuring original caps from Meisterstück 149 pens, the polished trim and Montblanc star denote quality and style. The Nightlife collection has travel bags, document cases, briefcases, rucksacks, messenger bags, camera bags and purses and wallets. Price: Rs 50,000 and up.

Kipling yellow

I simply love looking at luggage and travel bags from Kipling. They’re fun, and even their colours are offbeat. No, it’s not yellow, it’s “sun”. It is not peach, it is “Georgia peach”. Or “juicy pink”, for that matter. This convenient strolly is sleek, streamlined, extra large and expandable, and has mesh pockets, a key ring and ribbed corner protectors. It’s water-resistant, too. Pick it up. Priced at Rs 17,500.
