The project by ETA Star Properties is designed to maximise the use of the natural forces of wind, use natural light and geothermal mass, recyclable construction material along with optimum use of energy-efficient systems and technologies.
"I am happy that the developer has shown the industry the direction towards working on projects that maintain equilibrium in the environment we live and operate in," co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, Pachauri said during the launch here yesterday.
The VERDE residences and offices in Dubai maritime city, has been designed to achieve gold ratings, as provided by the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) programme.
Adrain Smith, chief architect of the project said, "The energy saved by the project is equal to the planting of about 600,000 trees or removing 680 cars off the road."
