Canada's flag carrier Air Canada said on Friday that it will increase its frequency of flights to seven per week after it inaugurated its first non-stop flight from Vancouver that will be arriving at New Delhi on October 22.

The seasonal flight that will make four rounds in a week compliments Air Canada's non-stop service on the Delhi-Toronto route, which will begin flight operations on a daily basis by adding three more aircrafts to its fleet from next month.

Besides, Air Canada would also launch flight services to Mumbai from Toronto, starting from July next year as part of its global expansion plans.

"We are delighted to inaugurate our second route between Canada and India right in time for Diwali celebrations. Our non-stop flights from our Asia-Pacific Vancouver hub feature 787-9 Dreamliner service and offer the shortest elapsed flying time from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles to the Indian subcontinent," Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada said.

Air Canada's non-stop flight, coupled with its streamlined and seamless connections process at Vancouver, will help customers save up to 3-5 hours of flight time as against other aircrafts with itineraries including connections in Europe or Asia, he said.

The Vancouver-Delhi flight, which comes around the festival time, would be the only non-stop service linking Vancouver and the Indian subcontinent, the airline said.

With the new Vancouver route the carrier is strategically increasing its presence in the important Asia-Pacific market, Margaret Skinner, Director Sales, EMEAI, Air Canada said.

Air Canada plans to increase connectivity to India, the airline would get direct non-stop service seven times a week, starting July 1 2017.

With the growing emphasis on cross investment between India and Canadian companies this direct flight enhances connectivity not only into Canada, but also to other key cities in the USA, it said.

"Customer response to our Toronto-Delhi service has been extremely positive and hence its becoming a daily service from November 6 from the current four times a week service," Smith said.

"We are very pleased with the response on this route and the yield which has allowed us go daily as quick as we are. While extending our global reach, these new flights also represent a further deepening of our already substantial international network," Skinner said.

Once the Toronto-Mumbai becomes operational, Air Canada would be operating 20 routes between Canada and Asia, including the Middle East, she said.

Air Canada operates flight services to 64 airports in Canada besides 142 overseas aerodromes across the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, among others.
