Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd (ASSPL) today announced the opening of a second fulfillment centre (FC) spread over 50,000 square feet with more than 170,000 cubic feet storage space at Bavla, in the outskirts of Ahmedabad, taking its total storage capacity in Gujarat to 200,000 cubic feet.

More than 200 sellers across the state have already registered at this facility and many of them have started in-bounding their products. Over 95% of the sellers registered with this FC are from Gujarat and as many as 50% of them are from Ahmedabad, the company said here in a statement. As such, 17,000 sellers from Gujarat (of which around 6,000 are from Ahmedabad) are registered with Amazon across India.

The company runs six FCs in Maharashtra, the highest in India, while its Telangana FC is the largest spread over 280,000 square feet. Akhil Saxena, director, operations, Amazon India said, "We are committed to and look forward to partnering with the state government in transforming the lives of small and medium businesses across the state by giving them access to tools and technology that will empower their growth in the digital economy. Apart from immensely benefiting sellers, the FC will also enable faster and quicker delivery of products to consumers across the region."

Amazon has 21 FCs operational across ten states in India with a total storage capacity of over five million cubic feet.
