Ansal API signs up IBM, Cisco for smart city project

Realty major Ansal API has signed up technology majors IBM and Cisco for transforming its Sushant Golf City residential township into a smart city.

"The smart city project has already started and it would be the first smart city in India, when completed," Ansal API chairman Sushil Ansal told Business Standard here.

He said Golf City had the permission to acquire a total of 6,500 acres to develop the township for a million people. The total investment in the project is estimated almost Rs 70,000 crore, he added.

Currently, the township spans about 3,500 acres comprising bungalows, villas, row houses, commercial arcade, besides an 18-hole international championship standard golf course, Mahesh Bhupati Tennis Academy etc. The project also includes 10,000 housing units for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).

Now, a super specialty Medanta Awadh hospital is coming in the township. It is promoted by noted cardiologist Dr Naresh Trehan.

 

The hospital would be spread over 12 acres and comprise a 1,000 bed hospital with 30 operation theatres and 300 critical care beds.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had laid the foundation of the hospital yesterday in the presence of Ansal and Trehan.

According to Ansal, while phase I of the hospital would be operational in two-and-half years, the project would be complete in 5 years time. Meanwhile, the company has also planned to set up a university in the township.

Commenting on the real estate sector, he conceded the past few years had been tough due to several reasons. "The companies who do not compromise on quality and complete projects on time committed to buyers would still flourish," he observed.
