Ashok Kumar Bal has joined Aditya Birla owned Essel Mining & Industries Ltd (EMIL) as the chief executive officer. A alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics and Management Development Institute-Gurgaon, Bal has over 27 years experience in Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

He has served in key positions like the commissioner of income tax in various cities, special director, enforcement directorate in Mumbai, Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust and head of corporate affairs at Reliance Industries prior to joining EMIL.
