Online marketplace AskmeBazaar.com is planning to roll out its hyperlocal Next Day Delivery (NDD) business model across 50 Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India in a couple of months, and expand it to the next set of 50 cities by the end of this calendar, according to its head (NDD) Marichi Mathur.

After piloting the capital-light model, which sets up a local ecommerce ecosystem within a city, in Jaipur three weeks ago, AskmeBazaar had so far launched NDD in 22 cities. NDD connects local buyers to the local sellers and delivers orders worth over Rs 1,000 to the doorstep the next day, with no shipping charges.

Announcing the launch of the NDD service in Hyderabad on Monday, Mathur said the company wanted to deliver 1,000 orders a day starting this month, and eventually ramp this up to 5,000 orders a day in the next two to three months.

AskmeBazaar wants to leverage the data base of 13 million small and medium enterprises mined from its parent, consumer Internet platform AskMe, to reach scale, Mathur said, adding that the company was having over 14,000 sellers offering around 6,000 non-grocery products through the NDD model.

Overall, according to him, AskmeBazaar currently delivers one million orders a month, which it expects to grow 10-fold in the next six months, primarily on the back of the ensuing festival season.
