Ashok Leyland on Monday announced non-working days across its plants in September due to continued weak demand.

The Hinduja Group flagship firm’s Pantnagar plant will have 18 non-working days in September, while the Ennore unit will have 16. While Alwar and Bhandara plants will be closed for 10 days each, Hosur and CPPs will have 1 and 2 non-working days, respectively. 

Automobile majors have been adjusting production for the past few months owing to sluggishness and contraction in the commercial vehicle market. Rs 1.75 lakh bonus to each employee.

Ashok Leyland has agreed to give 5.42 per cent of the profit of 2018-19 as bonus to employees, sources said on Monday. Ashok Leyland spokesperson said the company would revert as soon as an agreement is signed. The company has around 6,146 employees, and irrespective of the grades, all of them will be eligible for bonus. According to the talks, each employee will get Rs 1.75 lakh as bonus. Last year, the bonus was around 4.3 per cent of the profit, with each employee getting around Rs 1.34 lakh as bonus.
