Biocon in pact with US firm Pacific Biomarkers

Clinigene International, a subsidiary of Biocon, and Pacific Biomarkers, a Washington-based company, has announced a collaborative clinical research agreement to address the speciality biomarker and high-end clinical trial laboratory needs of the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Biomarker is a biochemical feature or facet that can be used to measure the progress of disease or the effects of treatment.

Commenting on the partnership, Peter Bains, Biocon’s director of research services business, said Pacific Biomarkers is a recognised player in providing speciality biomarkers and clinical diagnostic assay services to discovery and development-based life science enterprises. An assay is a procedure in molecular biology for testing or measuring the activity of a drug or biochemical in an organism or organic sample.

“We are delighted that the company has selected Clinigene as its partner in India,” he added.
