Biosystems sets up new manufacturing facility in South

Biosystems Diagnostics Pvt Ltd (BDPL), 50:50 Joint venture between Trivitron Healthcare and Spain-based Biosystems offering reagents and instruments for laboratories, has set up a manufacutring facility for vitro diagnostics in Trivitron Medical Technology Park at Sriperumbudur with an investment of around $10 million (Rs 53.8 crore). The joint venture company, which has been into importing equipments for Indian diagnostics industry, would now manufacture products in medical technology space to cater the laboratories, said G S K Velu, founder of Trivitron Group of companies. The plant currently has a capacity to manufacture 60 million tests a year and there is scope to double the capacity in future, he said.

“The plant design is scalable to double the capacity in future. The facility will produce reagent worth over Rs 200 crore during next three to five years and it would not only cater to the domestic market but also supply to the other overseas markets,” said Velu. He also added that the company, is planning to exports its products to overseas including the West Asian countries in next two years.
