Canadian technology company, BlackBerry, is currently working on the cloud version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10 (BES10), a multi-platform device management and security platform, according to Akash Mainra, business head (large enterprise), BlackBerry India.

The unified platform, launched in early 2013, helps fully manage BlackBerry  operating system, BlackBerry 10 devices, Android, iOS smartphones and tablets – both corporate-owned and personal-owned bring-your-own-device (BYOD) devices.

“This is a global initiative and we are working on the time line to go and target the small and medium business (SMB) market as and when the cloud version of BES10 is launched”.

Stating that BYOD was definitely an integral part of BlackBerry’s offerings to reach out to enterprise customers, Mainra said the company had seen more than 30,000 installations of BES10 worldwide, including over 1,000 in India, since its launch around 12 months ago.

“This partnership provides economies of scale to us. Being designed and developed specifically for emerging markets like Indonesia, India and few Southeast Asian countries, the first smartphone from Foxconn with BlackBerry branding will be launched sometime towards the later part of the second quarter of the current calendar year,” Mainra said, adding that the device would be priced much lower than the present BB products.
