Further decreasing the distance between Punjab and the UK, British Midland International (BMI), the second largest airline at London Heathrow, launched its direct service between London and Amritsar (Punjab) today.
BMI is the only airline to offer direct connection between Punjab and Great Britain through thrice a week flight with travel time of mere 12 hours.
"To ensure that passengers do not miss relishing great Indian food, we are offering Indian cuisine as well as hindi movies and music on this route," said Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, BMI, who accompanied the first guests at the BMI’s inaugural flight from London (BD991) that arrived at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport today.
Addressing the media, Prock-Schauer said that BMI was excited to enter the Indian market via the holy city of Amritsar today. "Our new connection to London offers unprecedented convenience and real value to UK-bound travellers from Punjab and will strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two regions," he said.
BMI’S Amritsar-London service is operated on a modern, wide-body Airbus A330-200 aircraft. It accommodates a total of 232 passengers and is configured with 36 business class and 196 economy class seats.
