Intelligent, ethically correct; very aware of the ways of the world; someone who considers all aspects before taking a decision. This is how someone who has worked with Shruti Shibulal, the daughter of Infosys co-founder and CEO S D Shibulal, describes Shruti.

Having joined Bangalore-based Tamara Real Estate Holding & Development Pvt Ltd as head of corporate strategy, Shruti has joined her father in the limelight, although at a lower wattage. A recent graduate of Columbia Business School’s MBA program, Shruti is a promoter and director at the company that runs The Tamara Coorg, a boutique resort brand. Though she began her career at Merrill Lynch in 2006, she went on to become a director of both Innovations Investment Management, and Avant Garde Hospitality. She seems to have finally found her calling in hospitality with the prestigious Shangri-La Hotels in Hong Kong in 2011.

As head of corporate strategy at Tamara, Shruti Shibulal’s primary role will be to develop long-term business strategy, planning, performance monitoring and handling change management. The company is presently implementing the next phase of development and is planning to add 26 more cottages, an Ayurvedic spa, a swimming pool and a sports arena by the third quarter of next year. The hospitality firm is also mulling expansion into Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu and Alappuzha in Kerala.

Shruti has been a trustee of The Samhita Academy, the first RTE-compliant school in India, and Advaith Foundation, which provides a nurturing home for young students from underprivileged backgrounds. She has been working on endeavours to level the field for underprivileged children so they have equal opportunities to bright futures.
