BSP achieves record production

Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the flagship entity of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) had started the fiscal 2013-14 on a positive note over the production parameters in the plant.

After having achieved cent per cent fulfilment of Annual Business Plan (ABP) in production of hot metal and saleable steel in month of April 2013, the Plant has in the month of May 2013 achieved a fulfilment of 103.2 per cent, 102.1 per cent and 100.0 per cent of the ABP for hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel, respectively.

A statement issued by the company said that the production of 32,080 Tonne 26-Meter rail from rail and structural mill in May 13 had been the best ever monthly performance surpassing the previous best of 32,078 T, achieved in the month of December 2012.

The production of special steel in May 2013 was at 61.5 per cent with respect to total saleable steel production.

Cumulatively for the first two months of the year, the Plant has registered a growth of 1.5 per cent, 1.9 per cent and 6.1 per cent over previous year for hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel respectively.
