Riding on increased oil production from its Rajasthan fields, Cairn India today reported a 13-fold rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 245.19 crore in the quarter ended March 31. The company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 18.68 crore in the same period last year.
Income from operations jumped to Rs 692.83 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2009-10 financial year from Rs 181.75 crore a year ago. Cairn started crude oil production from its Barmer oilfields in August last year. The contribution of Barmer crude was absent in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year. Profit after tax in the full 2009-10 financial year was up 53 per cent to Rs 1,051.1 crore. Income from operations rose to Rs 1,623.03 crore from Rs 1,432.67 crore.
