Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, chairman and managing director of Cognizant’s India arm, has resigned from his role, ending his 23 years of association with the IT services firm.

While Ramamoorthy couldn’t be contacted, in a social media post he said: “In the past few months, I felt a strong desire to double down on my abiding passion (also my first calling!)—education, skilling and mentoring entrepreneurs. I am all set to explore that world again from July 17.”

Ramamoorthy joined the firm in 1998 as a programme manager with the content division. Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant, in an internal mail, said: “I would like to thank Ramkumar for his successful tenure here, for his many contributions over the years, and for being a passionate brand ambassador of Cognizant with our multiple external stakeholders.”

Cognizant also announced the resignation of Pradeep Shilige who was heading global delivery and was with the firm for 24 years. He will be replaced by Andy Stafford, a former MD at Accenture.
