Siemens Q1 net up 68.18% at Rs 34.41 cr

Siemens has posted a 68.18 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 34.41 crore for the first quarter ended December 31 2002 as compared with Rs 20.46 crore in the same period last year. Net sales grew 15 per cent at Rs 298.5 crore (Rs 260.3 crore). The company bagged new orders worth Rs 406.3 crore in the first quarter.

Nicholas Piramal bottomline at Rs 21.19 cr

Nicholas Piramal India has reported a net profit of Rs 21.19 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2002, compared with Rs 13.19 crore in same period of the previous fiscal. Total income rose to Rs 221.34 crore (Rs 191.21). For the nine months to December, net profit rose to Rs 78.49 crore (Rs 45.48 crore) while total income climbed up to Rs 707.05 crore (Rs 604.26 crore).

Indian Hotels net profit at Rs 11.17 cr

Indian Hotels Company has posted a net profit of Rs 11.17 crore for the quarter ended December 2002 as compared with Rs 6.01 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Total income increased 27.1 per cent to Rs 170.50 crore (Rs 134.19 crore). The growth in net profit was on account of a 4 per cent increase in operating margins and a 19 per cent drop in interest costs.

HCL Infosystems Q2 net drops

Delhi-based computer hardware company HCL Infosystems has reported a 82 per cent fall in net profit at Rs 2.63 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2002 against Rs 14.6 crore in the same quarter previous year. The company has reported a turnover of Rs 597.4 crore (Rs 271.9 crore). Announcing the results, Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems, said:
