Dassault Systemes acquires UK-based Safe Technology

The acquisition expands Dassault Systemes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform

Design software company Dassault Systemes today said it has acquired UK-based Safe Technology, which designs softwares for predicting product durability.

"The acquisition of Safe Technology, based in Sheffield, expands Dassault Systemes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its realistic simulation applications, providing the most complete and accurate durability prediction solution on the market," Dassault said in a statement.

The company, however, did not reveal financial details of the acquisition.

France-based Dassault Systemes, a provider of 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and product lifecycle management solutions, has centres at six cities, including Bangalore, Gurgaon and Pune.

"Advanced fatigue and durability software solutions are an essential part of the product design process. Safe Technology will enhance Dassault Systemes' SIMULIA structural simulation to predict and analyse product life quickly and accurately," Dassault President and CEO Bernard Charles said.

Safe Technology develops and sells 'fe-safe' technology, which is used by companies in automotive, off-highway, military, off-shore, power generation, wind energy and many other industries.

It has more than 500 customers, including General Motors, Caterpillar, Cummins, Emerson Climate Technologies, Honda Jets, Harley Davidson Motor Company and Hyundai Motors, the statement said.

"Dassault Systemes is committed to keeping fe-safe at the forefront of fatigue technology as well as to delivering an open solution that supports all the leading FEA solvers," Safe Technology CEO John Draper said.
