On the eve of Makara Sankranti, Discovery Channel announced that it will now be available 24-hours in Telugu. The channel had introduced a 6-hour Telugu feed in October 2010 and post an overwhelming response from the viewers in the state, it has been transformed into a 24-hour feed. The channel will now be available in four languages in India – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The content and its airing schedule will remain identical for all language feeds.

We are extremely thrilled to be offering Discovery Channel now in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu”, Rahul Johri, Discovery Networks senior vice president and general manager, India, stated in a press release.
Discovery Channel currently reaches 55 million subscribers in the country.
