Battery manufacturer Exide today reported a 35.08 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 165.34 crore for the quarter ended June 30.

The company had registered a net profit of Rs 122.40 crore in the corresponding period in 2009-10, Exide Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The total income during the first quarter of this fiscal increased by 27.52 per cent to Rs 1,152.08 crore from Rs 903.46 crore in April-June quarter of 2009, it added.

During March-April, Exide faced labour issues at its Bawal facility in Haryana, affecting its production possibly up to 75 per cent. A go-slow agitation affected one of the units at Bawal, which has a capacity to produce 3.5 lakh units per month.

Exide has six facilities across the country with a total production capacity of 1.9 crore units per annum.
