Figo, the budget hatchback launched by Ford India earlier this year has helped the company more than triple its sales in June to 7,269 units as against 1,982 units sold by it in the same month last year.
"With more than 24,000 purchase orders in the first four months on the market, Figo is helping drive sales growth. Ford India is gearing up production to export the Figo to South Africa", stated a release from the company.
Micheal Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India, said, "We are beginning our second production shift this month in order to step up production to meet the demands that we have created."
The company sells four models in India namely, Ikon, Endeavour, Figo and Fiesta. It recently phased out the Fusion model due to poor demand.
