Negotiations between the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and farmers of the Patwari area for higher compensation in exchange for their land failed today after several hours of talks. GNIDA CEO Rama Raman asked the farmers for “acceptable demands”. While the latter sought compensation at around Rs 10,000 per sq m, Raman said it was beyond his capacity.

The other demands, including return of five to six per cent of developed land, would be sent on to the state government, he said.

Builders’ representatives said negotiations would continue between the farmers and the Greater Noida Authority.
