Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC) has proposed to start production of oil and gas at its two wells in Amabaliyara village in Dholka taluka of Ahmedabad by establishing Surface Production Facility (SPF). For this the state PSU has approached the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) for environment clearance.

The public hearing on the environment impact assessment (EIA) of the project is scheduled for December 20.

The Drilling of these wells in the block was carried out in year 2008 following which oil was discovered in these wells. The wells are approximately 0.40 km away from each other. Estimated oil output from both the wells is 2-4 cubic meter per day. While the gas output has been estimated between 100-150 cubic meter per day for the first well and 120-200 cubic meter per day for the second well.

GSPC has stated in the project's environment impact assessment (EIA) that all the requisite facilities shall be put up in place at site as per rules and regulations of Director General of Mining and Safety (DGMS) and the production shall be commenced once the approval from concerned authority is received.

Up gradation of facility may be required in future if there are changes in well fluid characteristics and addition of new development wells, it has added.
