The Power Ministry today said it may miss the power capacity addition for the 11th plan period (2007-12) by about 4,000 MW due to delay in commissioning of hydro-power project.
"3000-4000 MW of the 62,000-MW would be missed as hydro projects like Koteshwar are getting delayed," Power Secretary P Uma Shankar told reporters at FICCI event here.
The government had earlier planned to add 78,000 MW of power capacity by the end of the 11th plan, which the Planning Commission had scaled down to 62,000 MW. This may now be curtailed to 58,000 MW due to flattening progress in hydro power generation capacity addition.
