The country's second largest car- maker, Hyundai Motor India, today reported a 14.2 per cent jump in domestic sales to 31,751 units in September, 2010, its highest-ever monthly sales since inception in 1998.
The company sold 27,803 units in the domestic market in September, 2009, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement.
The previous monthly sales record of 31,501 units was achieved by the company in March this year.
"It is heartening to see the market on a growth trajectory and this has reflected in our sales, as we achieved the highest-ever domestic sales since inception in 1998. Hopefully, the festive season will further consolidate the growth," HMIL Director Marketing and Sales Arvind Saxena said .
Total sales in September, however, were down by 4.4 per cent at 51,441 units, as against 53,802 units in the year-ago period, due to a significant dip in exports.
During the month, exports fell by 24.3 per cent to 19,690 units from 25,999 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
In the A2 segment (Santro, i10 and i20), the company sold 46,673 units, while A3 segment (Accent and Verna) sales stood at 4,752 units.
The A5 segment (Sonata Transform) of HMIL witnessed sales of 16 units.
