The income-tax authorities today searched the residences and other premises of former Tata Finance managing director Dilip Pendse and his close family members, former Tata Finance senior executives A L Shilotri, B R Gazdar and others.officials, as well as the residences and offices of two stock brokers, income tax officials said here on Wednesday.
The brokers whose premises were searched include Rajendra Jhunjhunwala of Jhunjhunwala Securities, Malini Sanghavi of Malini Sanghavi Securities and Ajit Sanghavi, income tax sources said.
Though tax officials refused to say anything further, their interest apparently springs from the recent controversies that these officials and the brokers have been caught in.
In August this year, the Tatas had filed a first information report with the economic offences wing of the Mumbai police against Pendse and five other senior executives of the company accusing them of conspiracy, falsification of accounts, forgery, and criminal breach of trust
