Indian Airlines has seen a 25-30 per cent jump in load factors for August. Load factors have shot up to 62-65 per cent compared with around 50-54 per cent last year.

The surge in load factor follows the steep reduction in airfares this year, and far exceeded the 5-7 per cent increase the airline was expecting to achieve. Also, the current load factor level in August, which is traditionally a non-peak month, is very close to the peak season load factor level of 70-75 per cent.
