Indian Angel Network (IAN) has invested Rs 2.7 crore in Wedmegood.com, a Gurgaon-based wedding portal that helps prospective couples plan their wedding from planning to execution.

IAN members Hemant Kanakia and Alok Mittal have led the investment round, with Kanakia joining the board of WedmeGood. The company plans to utilise the funds to scale up technology and sales teams, besides focusing on the upcoming mobile app and pilot alternative revenue sources.

Founded in February 2014 by husband-wife duo Anand Shahani and Mehak Shahani, who faced the pains of planning their own wedding, came up with the idea of starting a wedding planning portal to make the entire execution process a smooth affair for every Indian couple.

"The IAN investment will help us reach a greater pan-India presence as we plan to extend our vendor base across major metro cities," Wedmegood co-founder Anand Shahani said in a statement on Wednesday.

Currently, Wedmegood.com is associated with over 3,500 vedors and connects over a million customers with a variety of professionals, including photographers, videographers, make-up artists, stylists, jewellery, decor and catering services. The platform also has a separate blog section, which has content and solutions to problems that are commonly faced by couples while planning their D-day.
