ITC is expanding its manufacturing facility at Haridwar with an investment of Rs 300-400 crore.
For this purpose, the Uttarakhand government has allotted nearly 8-9 acres of industrial plot to ITC to expand the facility, Bansidhar Bhagat, the state industries minister said. ITC would be expanding its business in consumer care and food items, the sources close to the development said. The company recently decided to enter personal care segment to compete with top players like HUL and Proctor & Gamble (P&G).
Although the company had been seeking land in Haridwar for long, the allotment process got delayed. Moreover, the ITC had sought much bigger plot of around 30 acres but the government allotted only 8-9 acres this time. Last year, HUL had sought nearly 50 acres of land in Haridwar but was allotted only 15 acres due to which the company squeezed its investment considerably at Haridwar.
