Sohail Khan-directed and Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho may not have had a record-breaking start, but the film did manage to hold its own through the weekend. The film collected Rs 101.3 crore (gross) worldwide. The foreign collections accounted for Rs 22.4 crore (gross) and domestic Rs 79 crore (gross). The net domestic collection was Rs 60.7 crore.

Jai Ho, starring Salman Khan, newcomer Daisy Shah, Tabu and Danny Denzongpa among a horde of other actors opened to nearly 5,000 screens in the country on 24 January. Abroad, it released on 23 January in the Gulf and other markets like the UK and US on the same day as India. The screen count of the overseas market was 450+.

At the domestic box office, the film opened Rs. 17.75 (net) crore on Friday followed by Rs. 16.68 (net) crore on Saturday. Jai Ho's collections showed a jump of 64% on Sunday garnering Rs. 26.25 crore (net).

Nandu Ahuja, Sr. VP, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Limited said, "Salman fans have given a huge thumbs up to Jai Ho. The film is packed with Salman style action along with the emotion and message of the human chain of goodness and it has touched the right chord with his fans. This is an outstanding opening and his highest where we didn’t have the added advantage of a long weekend."

The film marks the return of Salman Khan on the big screen after a year and also saw Sohail Khan don the director's hat after 1999 when he directed Hello Brother.
