The stainless steel downstream park proposed at Kalinganagar, the emerging steel hub of the state, is set to offer direct and indirect employment opportunities for 5,000 people.

The park, taken up at an investment of Rs 788 crore, including Rs 84 crore to be invested by the anchor tenant- Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL), will provide facilities for establishment of five auto component manufacturing units, eight kitchen ware and lifestyle industries, 24 light engineering units, two white goods industries, two precision cold rolling units, 29 pipes and tubes units and one service center. The park will be spread over 300 acres.

“We will be opening a service centre within the stainless steel park. This centre will be providing finished and customized products to 71 downstream units who will be setting up their facilities within the park,” said Rajdeep Mohanty, resident director, JSL.

Out of the identified land parcel of 300 acres, nearly 45 acres will be utilized as open area, 36 acres for roads and balance 219 acres will be set aside for establishment of small and medium scale downstream industries.

Another downstream park on stainless steel will be developed by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) at Parjang in Angul district. The products proposed to be manufactured in this park include hot rolling facilities, cold rolling facilities, steel pipes alloys, fabrication, hot galvanizing, forging and casting machine shop. Around 1,400 acres of land have been identified for the purpose.
