Kamal Bali appointed MD of Volvo India

The Board of Volvo India Private Limited (VIPL) has announced the appointment of Kamal Bali as Managing Director, with immediate effect. The ambitious targets of the Volvo Group now make it necessary to reinforce the structure of the joint company, Volvo India Private Limited (VIPL), and to develop a strong presence in the Indian context. Volvo India is into trucks, construction equipment, technology and product development and employs around 3,000 people in India.

Prior to Bali coming on Board at this position, this role was handled by Philippe Divry, President VIPL, who was also handling the joint ventures. Bali will be reporting into Divry who, going forward, will focus on the JVs.

With a career spanning three decades, predominantly in the automotive (tractors) and CE industry, Bali has worked for well-known Indian brands and also established and developed multinational corporations in India. He has had a broad experience in the functional areas of sales, marketing, finance, human resources, and exercised significant P&L responsibilities.

An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bali began his professional career with Eicher Group in 1981. Later, he headed the Sales function for Escorts' Tractors & Claas Harvestors, followed by the position of CEO & Managing Director for Same Deutz -Fahr India and Escorts Construction Equipment.

Prior to joining Volvo India, Bali was working as the President & CEO of LeeBoy India Construction Equipment Private Limited.

Bali shall be based in Bangalore and shall report at the Volvo Group level to Niklas Gustavsson, EVP, Corporate Sustainability and Public Affairs, and Chairman of the Board of Volvo India as well.
