Public sector National Aluminium Company (Nalco) today reported an 81.37 per cent plunge in its net profit at Rs 83.20 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, over the same period last year.
The company had a net profit of Rs 446.66 crore in the same quarter ended March 2008, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income rose to Rs 1,125.66 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2009, from Rs 1,200.39 crore in the same period year ago.
For the year ended March 31, the company posted a net profit of Rs 1,272.27 crore, down 22.01 per cent from Rs 1,631.52 crore in the same period last year.
Total income of the company rose to Rs 5,230.80 crore for the year-ended March 2009, from Rs 5,134.65 crore in the same period ended March 2008.
Shares of Nalco settled at Rs 356.80, up 2.46 per cent on the BSE.
