State-run hydro power generator NHPC's net profit rose seven per cent to Rs 537.42 crore for the June quarter compared to the same period last year.
NHPC had a profit of Rs 502.10 crore in June quarter last year.
Net sales were at Rs 1,019.71 crore compared to Rs 1,060.26 crore in the same quarter last fiscal (2009-10), an official statement said.
NHPC is the country's largest hydro producing company with an installed capacity of 5,295 MW after the commissioning of its 120 ME Sewa-II project in Jammu and Kashmir last week.
It plans to augment this capacity to over 10,000 MW by the end of the current XIth Five Year Plan (2007-12).
The company is also in the process of forming a joint venture with state-utility PTC India for developing 2,100-mw capacity in the Chenab river basin and 1,000-mw in Pakal Dul.
