A city special magistrate court on Friday issued non-bailable warrants against Kingfisher Airlines CMD Vijay Mallya and other senior officials of the company in a cheque bounce case filed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd eight months ago.
The court issued these orders, citing non-appearance of the parties when the case came up for hearing the first time after the complaint was lodged under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. The warrants were also issued against Kingfisher CEO Sanjay Agarwal and CFO A Raghunathan.
GMR had filed four complaints pertaining to four separate cheques. All of those were listed for hearing on Friday. These cheques were issued for payment of Rs 10.50 crore collected from passengers through passenger service fee and user development fee, GMR counsel J P Chennakeshava Rao said.
As the court has posted the next hearing on November 6, Mallya and others have to approach the court before that to get possible relief from the execution of the warrants.
