Olympus launches latest mirror-less camera E-M5 Mark II

Priced at Rs 74,990, the camera is 40% lighter and it comes with a splash-proof, dust-proof and freeze-proof body

Olympus has launched its latest mirror-less camera, the E-M5 Mark II, which boasts of a lighter body and the capacity to shoot sharper images and videos.

E-M5 Mark II, the company’s latest in the interchangeable lens camera segment, features a sophisticated image stabilisation technology with an ultra sensitive 5-axis voice coil motor, which enables you to shoot sharp images in very low light and capture steady videos even when the camera is hand-held. 

Marc Radatt, general manager, Olympus Corporation Asia Pacific, who unveiled the new model recently in Mumbai, said: “Olympus has always focused on quality, features and compactness.With our mirror-less camera range, we have changed the rules of the game."

The company said that unlike other heavy DSLRs, the E-M5 Mark II, priced at Rs 74,990, is 40% lighter and it comes with a splash-proof, dust-proof and freeze-proof body. 

In a press release, the company, which appointed Creative Peripherals as the official distributor, pointed out: "We understand that people still need to get used to the mirror-less cameras, which are the next stage of evolution in the DSLR category. Therefore, we are investing a lot of time and resources in educating the users. Its best-in-the-segment touchscreen interface makes it a dream to adjust the AF point, aperture, shutter speed and do much more without interrupting your recording."

The camera comes with a lightweight body, a high-speed sensor, an efficient image processor, large interactive EVF, a touch-and-swivel LCD screen with angle positioning, lightening fast autofocus and manual focus that gives complete control over your image. 

"You can shoot everything from fast sports action to dramatic portraits with equal ease," Radatt said.
