Partha Bhattacharyya joins the board of Deepak Fertilisers

The ex MD of Coal India and Haldia Petrochemicals has joined Deepak Fertilisers as an executive director

Partha Bhattacharyya, the ex MD of Coal India and Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd has joined Deepak Fertilisers Ltd as an executive director.

The company said that Bhattacharyya has accepted the offer and will be offered to join the board on the scheduled board meeting of October 31, 2012. He will directly report to Sailesh Mehta, the vice chairman and managing director, Deepak Fertilisers. Bhattacharyya said, “It (Deepak Fertilisers) is at an exciting phase of growth and I look forward to working with the Company's dedicated employees to achieve its immense potential and drive growth both in India and across the globe."

Partha Bhattacharyya started his career with Coal India limited as a management trainee in 1977. In 2006 he became the chairman and managing director of the company and led to its successful initial public offer of Rs 15000 crore in 2010. Coal India was fully owned government company till then and the investor interest in the IPO was unmatched.

Coal India’s IPO was subscribed nearly 12 times.

On April 1, 2011 Bhattacharya joined Haldia Petrochemicals as the managing director. He resigned from this post in June 2012 citing personal reasons.
