The efforts are being made to bridge the gap between technocrats and medical practitioners especially surgeons who are engaged in robotic surgeries.
Pune-based Persistent Systems, an outsourced software product development (OPD) services company and Precision Automation & Robotics India Ltd (PARI) and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik are working in this area to reduce the cost of development of robots, advance technology and ultimately resulting in reducing cost of the surgery.
Company is hosting a two-day conference for promoting research in instrumentation & robotics for surgery. The conference will be held on April 7 and 8, 2012. Commenting on this, Anand Deshpande, CMD, Persistent Systems said, "At Persistent Systems, we are continuously tracking new industry trends, innovations and fostering fresh ideas in health care, life sciences and other domains. There is a gap between biologists and technology experts. We believe robotics surgery is a new technology advancement that holds great promise. Through this consultation, we aim to provide effective recommendations to the MUHS for promoting research in the area of surgical instrumentation and robots."

This consultation will bring together a multi-disciplinary community of surgeons, physicians, engineers and computer scientists to discuss latest advances in the field of surgical robotics and medical instrumentation.
