PuneConnect, an initiative started by Software Exporters Association of Pune, which kick starts its third edition will focus on the manufacturing segment.

PuneConnect, that was started with an aim to provide platform for start-ups to showcase their products and ideas and as an industry connect for the IT services player is diversifying to other sectors and now aims to connect with other various sectors of the economy. “This year PuneConnect is moving beyond just Start-ups and IT. India is the only country where its exports are dominated by the services sector, unlike in other countries where core sectors such as manufacturing and other form the core component. We realised that having an industry body aligning with other sectors like manufacturing, pharma, bio-tech etc that are all using technology is much more beneficial,” said Prashant Pansare,VP, SEAP.

He also added that latest technology developments like social, mobility, analytics, and cloud computing though are propagated by the tech industry the maximum implementation is happening in sectors like manufacturing, pharma and others. This year SEAP will focus on manufacturing, hi-tech, electronics and gaming sectors.

The conference will continue to focus on providing a platform for the start-ups in Pune. “We have been successful in using our platform for start-ups. Many have managed to get funding and some have been acquired too. This year we will are adding the venture capital segment as well,” he added.

The conference will have a Start-up Alley and Pune Advantage Area that will showcase a total of 45 of the best start-up companies and Entrepreneurs in Pune showcasing their innovative product to the attending delegates. PuneConnect initiative is being supported by, NASSCOM, MCCIA, TiE Pune, HIA, PuneTech, and IACC.
