S Radhakrishnan assumes charge as BPCL CMD

S Radhakrishnan has today assumed additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Ashok Sinha has demitted the office as CMD, after his term ended yesterday.
 
Radhakrishnan, a Mechanical Engineer from IIT-Chennai and an MBA from IIM, Bangalore; has had been the Director (Marketing) of the company since 2002. He also served as the MD of Bharat Shell, a joint venture of BPCL and Shell International; between 1997 and 2002.

Mr. Radhakrishnan is currently the Chairman of the Joint Venture Companies, M/s. Indraprastha Gas Ltd. & Bharat Stars Services Pvt. Ltd. and is Director on the Board of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd., Sabarmati Gas Ltd., & Matrix Bharat Marine Services Pte. Ltd.

Radhakrishnan held various positions in the company as the Executive Director of human resources, and GM of Eastern and Western regions. "He has been at the forefront of BPCL’s marketing initiatives and spearheaded the effort by the company to innovate," said a press release issued by the company.

The oil marketing major was the first to introduce branded petrol in India and offers smart card technology based services in the form of petro cards and fleet cards. The company also offers groceries and kitchen appliances through the existing distributor network for its LPG customers.
