"Innovation should be for everyone," said BD Park, president and chief executive officer of (Southwest Asia), Samsung, addressing the media at the third Samsung Southwest Asia Forum today.
“Relentless innovation and discovery are the key principles of our business and these are driving our goal to enable consumers to discover a world of possibilities with technology,” he added.
The company recorded global sales of $200 billion in 2012. In Southwest Asia, it tripled its growth rate over the past three years and achieved more than 35% sales growth in 2012, a release stated.
“We work in a dynamic region and consumers today are looking for technology that will not complicate their lifestyles but enrich and empower them. That is our goal and we will strive to provide innovative technology beyond consumer expectations towards a new era of possibilities,” Park said.
The company has launched the six products across categories of television, home appliances, cameras, mobile phones, printers and enterprise solutions. These were showcased at its 2013 product portfolio at the forum.
The newly-launched products include F8000 LED TV, the first Samsung television to feature a quad-core processor; the 85S9, its first 85-inch ultra high definition TV and its flagship 7.1 channel home theatre system HT-F9750W.
Expanding its ‘Note’ range of tablets, the company launched ‘Galaxy Note 510’. Under the PC category, it has launched the Series 7 Chronos laptop. The laptop has a 15.7-inch touch screen that supports 10-point multi-touch and has a battery life of 11 hours. It has also launched a refrigerator called RT42, a new washing machine (WA16) that features Wobble technology.
“Technological innovations are changing and the idea of innovation is to give more freedom to consumers and to remove the technological barriers,” he said.
