Schneider Electric to export products from Chennai plant

Company will export the products to Middle East, Australia, Brazil and other countries

France-based Schneider Electric plans to export equipment to West Asia, Australia, Brazil and other countries from the Chennai plant which was opened today.
 
"This unit we are opening today is our 32nd factory in India. This is our automation plant after the first unit factory in Noida (Uttar Pradesh)..", Schneider Electric Country President and Managing Director (India), Anil Chaudhry told reporters here.
 
Noting that the second facilty would "supplement" the first automation factory in terms of adding capacity, Chaudhry said the company would focus more on engineering and design, feeder automation, sub-station automation in the facility.

Already about 100 people are employed at the factory located at Poonamallee (near Chennai). It will also serve overseas markets, he said.
 
Schneider Electric, Senior Vice-President (Automation), Frederic Godemel said the company would export the products to Middle East, Australia, Brazil and other countries from Chennai plant.
 
The second automation factory would supply digitised control and protection panels. The combined production capacity of the manufacturing unit would help the company serve "growing requirements" of energy infrastructure from India.
 
Chaudhry did not reveal the investments made in the second manufacturing facility nor the subsidiary's revenues.
